Filament dehydrator

Adapting an off-the-shelf food dehydrator into a filament dryer you can print from. The initial multi-spool design was scaled down to a single spool for simplicity and to accommodate the dehydrator’s limited capacity revealed in testing.

Early conceptual design

What I did

Designed and fabricated PETG parts for the off-the-shelf dehydrator, including an internal turntable and filament outlet.
Integrated a digital hygrometer so the enclosure conditions could be observed.
Arranged the spool support and feed-through so filament could be drawn from inside the enclosure during printing.
